A new season and Miss Liz II is now at the Universal Marina on the Hamble after running repairs and refitting over the winter.  preparations are under way for the next stage of the adventure - which will be a run up to Scotland for a summer season sailing the western isles.  Watch this space as the fun continues.

  1. Hello David, just read your logs on completing the ARC.

Before that I saw the delivery film of miss Lizz on Youtube.

I am a Dutch sailor and since I am very close to buying a Hanse 505 myself I am very intrested with your evaluation of the yacht.

I have done the ARC in 2010 as crew member of Northern Child and since then dreamed of repeating this trip with my own boat.

Would you be kind enough to answer some questions I have on the boat?
You have a lot of experience with it which is very valuable to me

For instance, I too want to use a Watt & Sea hydrogenerator and I am particulately intrested way it was fastened on the stern. When the bathing platform is opened how much clearance remains between the top of the hydrogenerator and the platform?
Is it the standard Watt & Sea 600 that you used or an special (longer version)?

You complaiing about Dyneema halyards slipping through the stoppers.
have you recplaced the stoppers by stronger ones or did you go back to standard halyards?

Would you buy a Hanse 505 again?

Which are the three points you like best about the boat and which are the three things you dislike the most?

Any information on your experience with the Hanse 505 will greatly be apreciated.
